The parents of Nora Quoirin, the missing Irish girl in Malaysia, said "terima kasih" (thank you) on Saturday to those searching for her.

Her family offered a 50,000 ringgit ($11,900) reward, donated by a Belfast business, for information that could lead to her return, said The Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity that supports the families of British people missing overseas.

Her family said on Monday (Aug 12) that 15-year-old Nora is the eldest child who has been vulnerable since the day she was born.

Their statement said: "We would like to thank our embassies, the local community, and the staff here at the hotel and anyone else who has offered help to find Nora".

State fire and rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar told journalists: "Previously, our detective canines had spotted footprints, but when we conducted a search there, we couldn't find her". Police have listed her as a missing person but do not rule out a possible criminal element.

Quoirin's family, which has lived in London for 20 years, arrived August 3 for a two-week stay at the Dusun, a small resort located in a durian orchard next to a forest reserve 63 kilometers (39 miles) south of Kuala Lumpur.

Those with information may contact the police hotline at 011-12285058, while those outside Malaysia may email [email protected].

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor speaks with Nora Anne's father, Sebastian Quoirin August 11, 2019. "She has been to Asia and many European countries before, and has never wandered off or got lost".

USA delays tariffs on some Chinese goods, drops others
It's possible China has chose to bear the pain of Trump's trade war for the next 15 months and hope Trump loses the 2020 election. Trump went on to say the USA has collected close to $ 59 billion in tariffs thus far from China, which he called "amazing".

The only clue to the teen's disappearance was an open ground floor window, which police believe she climbed out of before wandering into the jungle.

The Associated Press reported a Malaysian shaman has joined in the search, adding that police released a video showing a shaman wearing a white skullcap performing rituals in the forest.

The 15-year-old was born with holoprosencephaly, a disorder which affects brain development, meaning that her communication is limited and she struggles with co-ordination.

She has been described by her parents as "funny and extremely loving" but also vulnerable as she has holoprosencephaly, a brain defect meaning her verbal communication is limited and can not write more than a few words.

They believe she was abducted, but police have classified it as a missing person case.

Meabh Quoirin made an emotional appeal for help in finding her daughter. "This is extremely traumatic for the whole family", it said.

Her parents have said it was "unthinkable" that she would wander off alone.

"The longer this goes on, the harder it is to retain hope", he said.
