Brown is resisting the trade and has now reportedly given the Raiders an ultimatum: "let me wear my old helmet or I won't play".

League sources said Brown had a two-hour conference call with NFL officials on Friday in an attempt to argue why he should be allowed to wear his 10-year-old helmet.

Now, Schefter is reporting Brown is SO upset over not being able to use his favorite headgear - he's threatening to RETIRE if he doesn't get his way!

His continued frustration surrounding the situation has created a buzz among teammates and coaches, one of whom referred to the saga as "honestly the most insane thing I have ever heard".

Brown, who has missed much of camp as the Raiders prepare for their final season in Oakland, entered a cryochamber without adequate protection on his feet and suffered frostbite. Brown showed up and requested his old helmet, and was told that it was no longer permitted.

The Raiders are "aware and supportive of Antonio Brown but [have] no further comment".

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news of Brown's new demands. After being told he'd have to wear an approved model, witnesses say, the receiver began loudly voicing his displeasure, complaining that quarterbacks such as Brady and Rodgers were not being subjected to the same scrutiny.

According to Silver, Brown tried to sneak his old helmet onto the field both at OTAs and at the start of training camp before being told he was not allowed to wear that model.

Tom Brady was resistant to the idea of switching to a new helmet.

ESPN reported that Brown has filed a helmet grievance to the league, and is seeking permission to wear an outdated helmet that does not meet updated safety standards. He was told the helmet was not allowed, and once again, he acquiesced and wore the new model. Then came a massive exposé in the form of a 20-tweet thread from Michael Silver that demonstrated just how poorly the AB-Raiders partnership has been going. The league installed new rules for 2019 that impacted several top players and will force Brown out of the helmet he's played in his entire career. "He hasn't been here for awhile, and no one knows where he's at".
