The WarnerMedia streaming service has given a straight-to-series order for a reboot of Gossip Girl, Variety reports. Per Variety's report, the spinoff will be "set eight years after the original show's finale and will follow a new generation of NY private school teens who are introduced to the social surveillance of the Gossip Girl site".

The "Gossip Girl" reboot comes at a time when networks are looking to beloved teen shows and franchises for opportunities.

It will follow a new generation of teens introduced to a new kind of surveillance, addressing how social media has impacted this world.

Finally, after several online rumors and countless requests for a reboot from diehard fans on social media, the hit drama series that aired on The CW from 2007-2012 is coming back.
