World number one Novak Djokovic, second seed and eight-time victor Roger Federer, third-placed Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut sealed the last-four berths on Wednesday evening after winning their respective quarterfinal matches.

Swiss Federer, 37, and Spaniard Nadal, 33, play their tantalising semi-final second on Centre Court.

Roberto Bautista Agut dropped the first set of his wonderful Wimbledon campaign to Argentine Guido Pella in their quarter-final but secured the fourth with composure.

Nadal and Federer will meet before the final of a Grand Slam for just the fifth time in their storied history.

Federer said he was unaware that he had become the first player ever to win 100 matches at the same Slam.

Federer: "Rafa has improved so much over the years on this surface".

"He's been definitely playing some very, very high-quality tennis in this tournament". If you remember (and Wertheim knows this match inside and out, better than anyone else) Federer was facing a pro-Nadal crowd that chanted "Come on, Rafa" during pivotal moments in the match. I am going to pick Roger Federer to win this match.

He added: "I had a tough match in the third round (against Hubert Hurkacz)".

Nadal: "Playing against Roger is always a unique situation. Well, I like to play against an opponent like this, to play a match with a lot of rallies". "But we both are obviously focused on our health, both of us actually, taking it literally one day at a time, seeing what happens from there".

"I'm not expecting to learn new things about him".

National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver calls trade demands 'disheartening'
I think what's best for the fan is a 30-team league which everyone has the opportunity to compete with a fair set of rules. But at the end of the day, a large component of our revenue come from traditional media.

"We had some brutal conditions to play (in) there". Oh, yeah, I didn't know. I'm playing well, too.

"He's a really good player".

Roger Federer has warned tennis's big three may continue dominating the majors for some time yet as the ageless master readies himself for a 40th career showdown with Rafael Nadal.

"I'm sure that I have to play good tennis to beat Roger, because he's the best player on the grass", Nishikori said. "It's hard to imagine to be again in that situation and here we are".

That´s despite Federer having five titles at the US Open while Nadal has three.

Nadal, who demolished Federer in straight sets in the semi-finals at Roland Garros last month on his way to a 12th title in Paris, admits his game has developed since 2008.

In between, the Swiss has swatted away young Briton Jay Clarke, French 27th seed Lucas Pouille and Italian 17th seed Matteo Berrettini with minimum fuss.

"I think it was the turning point; it was a huge relief for me mentally". I think he's got one of the best backhands in the game that we have right now.

However, he came agonisingly close to the final in 2018 when he lost to Novak Djokovic in a five-hour, 16-minute semi-final.
