Huawei may cut down shipments of its flagship smartphones

"Our most popular current devices, including the P30 series, will be able to access Android Q", Huawei said on Thursday.

Huawei says one of its most recent devices - the Mate 20 Pro which launched late previous year - has "already been given approval to receive Android Q as and when it is released by Google".

That is starting to change as Huawei takes on a more bullish stance about its future prospects as it moves to reassure users of its devices around the world of continued support just like it had promised them previously.

Huawei will still cover the manufacturer's warranty and offer full-service support.

The Huawei P30 Pro phone will also get Android Q update.

Several Chinese phone makers are already testing Hongmeng, and the first models running it are expected to go live in the home country this fall.
