Anderson Cooper is paying tribute to his late mother. The HBO documentary "Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper" detailed Vanderbilt's colorful life, delving into her personal relationships as well as her public persona. Gloria was on her knees begging him not to do it, but he took his life anyway. Reviewers and readers alike were surprised to be presented with such an explicitly steamy tale from an 85-year-old woman, but Vanderbilt herself was unapologetic.

Fashion designer, artist, author, and socialite Gloria Vanderbilt died Monday morning at home surrounded by friends and family.

Vanderbilt went on to became an actress, painter, model and acclaimed fashion designer of hip-hugging jeans in the 1970s. Her aunt prevailed in court proceedings. "She was ready to go".

My mom grew up in France, not knowing anything about the Vanderbilt family or the money that she would inherit when she turned 21.

Gloria Vanderbilt sued her Lawyer Thomas Andrews and her Psychiatrist in 1993 for stealing millions of dollars and selling off her business interests without her authorization. She was one of the first to offer a stylish alternative to the Levi's that dominated the denim landscape, and her jeans were slimmer and tighter fitting than the traditional work pant.

As a teenager, she tried to avoid the spotlight, but reporters and cameramen would follow her everywhere.

By the 80s, she was a household name.

In 1956, she married director Sidney Lumet, divorcing him in 1963, the same year she married Wyatt Cooper, an actor and screenwriter with whom she had sons Anderson and Carter. She wanted to feel life's pleasures, its pains as well.
