The Americans poured on the goals and defeated Thailand 13-0 - the biggest blowout in the tournament's history.

"To see Rose Lavalle have the confidence to go at players, Sam Mewis taking on players and scoring from outside the box, they showed really well".

Fifth minute, 0-0: U.S. thought it had scored after Alex Morgan tapped in Lindsey Horan's header, but the referee's assistant ruled her offside and disallowed the goal.

Morgan opened the goal spree for the title favourites, who are in pursuit of a fourth world crown, with a header in the 12th minute and from then on there was no stopping the champions.

It's hard to place a negative when a team wins 13-0, but despite the late goal scored, captain Megan Rapinoe didn't have a great game against Thailand, and her issue was mainly on her crosses coming from the left.

Prince Louis wears Prince Harry’s childhood outfit during Queen’s birthday
Harry's brother, Prince William , has had a history of gifting Kate Middleton lavish presents following their children's arrivals. But for royal fans concerned about the Tindalls snubbing the Queen , it turns out the monarch is not likely to be too bothered.

Thailand, meanwhile, is hoping to advance past the group stage after earning just one win in 2015 and leaving the tournament after three matches. Switzerland beat Ecuador 10-1 in 2015 and there was Germany's 11-0 win over Argentina in 2007.

Since the start of 2018, Alex Morgan has scored 26 goals for USA Women in all competitions, at least 13 more than any other player. She now ties with Michelle Akers' previous World Cup record set in 1991.

It is the most goals scored and the most lopsided victory in World Cup history, according to Fox Sports' Rob Stone. Chile is also arguably an inferior team to Thailand, so look out.

Samantha Mewis' opening goal for U.S. was the 800th goal scored in Women's World Cup matches, with United States of America responsible for 116 of them - more than any other team.

The top two teams in each of the six groups will qualify automatically for the last 16, along with the four best third-placed sides.
