Nancy Pelosi Agrees: America is in a Constitutional Crisis

The coming legal battle could stretch to 2020, and the White House is aiming to tie up congressional probes until election day.

The Justice Department warned Nadler on May 7 that if the committee moved to a contempt vote, the department would ask the White House to assert executive privilege over the Mueller report.

Nadler also has threatened to hold former White House Counsel Don McGahn in contempt of Congress if he doesn't testify before the committee later this month.

"The White House provided these records to Mr. McGahn in connection with its cooperation with the special counsel's investigation and with the clear understanding that the records remain subject to the control of the White House for all purposes", Cipollone said.

"With this lawless administration, I imagine we're also going to see characters like Steve Mnuchin, who's also not following the law when it comes to the president's tax returns", he said.

But Pelosi said she was waiting for other developments, including whether Mueller testifies to Nadler's committee.

But the Mueller report found no evidence of any collusion on the part of the president or his campaign team.

NADLER: Well, the attorney - the attorney general first has shown himself to be the personal attorney - he first showed himself to be the personal attorney of the president rather than the attorney general of the United States when he misled the country twice about the contents of the Mueller report and when he's now just seeking to keep all information away from Congress.

The House Judiciary Committee voted Wednesday to hold Barr in contempt of Congress, capping a day of ever-deepening dispute between congressional Democrats and the Republican White House.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 may come with the fastest-ever charger
It seems like a smart move, as this delay could last months and those who pre-order aren't charged until the device ships. Others such as Xiaomi are still working on their devices and have not confirmed when they will announce them.

In a blistering speech, Mr. McConnell targeted President Barack Obama for his policy toward Russian Federation ("per chance stronger management would occupy left the Kremlin much less emboldened") and Democrats in Congress for refusing to settle for Mr. Mueller's conclusions. If Trump fights the effort, as he has said he would, the matter could end up in the US Supreme Court.

Republicans accuse Democrats of attempting to discredit Barr because he is reviewing the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation and looking into allegations that the Obama administration spied on Trump's campaign.

House/DOJ talks fell apart, and House Democrats scheduled contempt proceedings against Barr.

Democrats say they want to see an unredacted version of the special counsel's report. "We are now in a constitutional crisis".

This afternoon, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in contempt of Congress in a 24-16 vote along party lines.

Senator Chuck Schumer of Unique York, the Democratic leader, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a joint assertion, blasted the speech as a "magnificent act of political cynicism and a brazen violation of the oath we all clutch".

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are calling on chairman Lindsey Graham to bring Robert Mueller in for a hearing.

Democrats made their case that Congress was at a historic juncture as it confronts what they consider Trump's stonewalling of lawmakers' ability to conduct oversight.

As NR notes, however, Democrats aren't asking for "that version", they're demanding the 100% unredacted version, which includes the grand jury information protected by law and "millions of pages of underlying documentary evidence".
