Measles outbreak: "Avengers: Endgame" moviegoers in California potentially exposed to measles

Gizmodo says that California is among the states hit hardest by the recent measles outbreak, with the CDC confirming 38 cases of measles in California as of April 24. The department said the person was there between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., which means there was potential exposure window was from 2:00 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

A California woman with the measles may have exposed others to the disease while attending a midnight showing of Avengers: Endgame.

AMC Fullerton employee Carlee Greer-McNeill told NBC with exasperation: "People, if you know you have the measles, please don't come to a movie theater, let alone a public place". Los Angeles country officials officially declared a measles outbreak last week. It's not known which one she went to.

An increase in measles cases has been reported throughout the United States. People with measles can spread the virus before they know they are infected and up to four days before a rash begins to develop. April 25 from 11 p.m. - April 26 at 4 a.m.

Anyone who visited those spots around those time periods should review their vaccination history and monitor themselves for symptoms, which include fever, cough, a runny nose and red eyes. According to the CDC, one dose of the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, and rubella, is 93 percent effective at preventing measles, and two doses are about 97 percent effective.
