With Game of Thrones season 8 in full swing following the release of its premiere, Winterfell, this weekend, fans finally got to set their sights on the new title sequence which introduces each episode.

The Game of Thrones actor revealed in an interview with Esquire that, among some other issues while filming the final season (uh, him nearly losing a testicle), he had to sport high heels. Why? While that means the series came in slightly below the 12.07 million viewer audience its season 7 finale's on-air broadcast scored, it's still well above its season 7 premiere's initial 10.1 million viewers.

When I first heard the reports tucked into various TV newscasts on Monday about these figures, my first reaction was: Is that all? Viewership on its standalone streaming platform, HBO Now, grew by 50% from the season seven finale, and by 97% from the season seven premiere.

Jon soon realised that Bran had turned into a massive weirdo since their last interaction, and the whole scene has become an epic meme opportunity that will go down in Game of Thrones history.

Game of Thrones concludes this year with its eighth season.

Everyone knows Game of Thrones season 8 has arrived and the first episode has aired. Why has it taken eight seasons for introduction to take an interior perspective? Gendry and Arya then exchanged some awkward pleasantries, which a subset of fans would love to read into as the potential start of a relationship, before settling into a more comfortable groove, with Gendry rubbing in Arya's highborn status. GoT season 8's first episode refreshed memories showcasing a Northern running through the crowd to catch a glimpse of the Unsullied, who accompanied Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow into Winterfell.

This scene was important because although viewers know his true lineage, Jon riding the dragon affirms it - Targaryens are known for taming dragons and riding them. That was something you don't see every day.
