The Seahawks and their star quarterback reached a deal extremely late Monday night, which came right before Wilson's self-imposed deadline of midnight PST Monday for a new contract.

"Hey Seattle, we got a deal", a sleepy-sounding Wilson says while lying in bed next to his wife Ciara. Instead of calling his bluff, the Seahawks gave him what he asked for.

According to NFL Media and, the extension is the richest in NFL history, running four years and worth $140 million, including a record $65 million signing bonus. Over the next four years, Wilson will make an average of $35 million a year.

Russell Wilson was just playing a proverbial game of poker. "Go Hawks!" she said, with Russell adding, "I'ma see y'all in the morning".

However, with Wilson becoming the highest-paid quarterback in National Football League history, Goff's sights just got set on a new number: $35 million per year.

So what's next? Well, Seattle has three big-time performers who are also looking for contract extensions in the next calendar year: Bobby Wagner, Frank Clark and Jarran Reed.

No more speculation about Wilson wanting to play elsewhere.

The quarterback who has led the Seahawks to seven straight winning seasons is staying in Seattle for a few more years. He attempted only 427 passes - his lowest total since his second season when Seattle won the Super Bowl - but his efficiency was a career best with a 110.9 passer rating. But as Prescott moves towards the $28 million per season range, one wonders if the Cowboys with their talented youthful roster can find a way to advance deeper in the playoffs than they have for so many years.

Wilson and the Seahawks shattered those rumors at that Wilson-imposed deadline by reportedly agreeing to a record-setting contract extension early Tuesday morning.

Time will tell how many of these four players will be in a Seahawks uniform going into the next decade. In 2018, he threw for 3,448 yards and 35 touchdowns-a career high-on just 427 passing attempts. "To pay him what you were gonna have to pay him to keep him, and then having to pay Seattle to get him with these young crop of quarterbacks that are coming up this year, next year". "Your dedication, consistency, and commitment to the game never wavers". Wilson reported the news himself (sans financial details) on Twitter and the details poured in from there. So, I'm really proud of him and excited for him no matter what.
