Press secretary Sarah Sanders tells "Fox News Sunday" she doesn't think House Democrats are equipped to examine the documents, which a key House committee is demanding under a 1920s law.

During her interview on Sunday, Sanders also stated that Trump wouldn't release his taxes "as long as [they're] under audit", continuing a line that the president has said to avoid making his returns public since he ran for president.

"On Saturday the president tweeted that ".So interesting to see the Mayor of Oakland and other Sanctuary Cities NOT WANT our now "detained immigrants" after release due to the ridiculous court ordered 20 day rule.

Department of Homeland Security officials were reported to have pushed back against the transfers of detained migrants as illegal, impractical and counter-productive.

President Donald Trump again threatened to send asylum seekers to sanctuary cities.

"If Democrats would step up and help the president fix the laws, this all could go away, we wouldn't be having this discussion, and that would be the best thing for the country and that would certainly be the best way to solve this crisis and fix this problem", Sanders told anchor George Stephanopoulos.

He said that the Treasury's legal office has begun meeting with lawyers in the Department of Justice, but that he has not personally spoken with the attorney general about Trump's taxes.

Critics warn migrant transfers would further burden already stretched immigration authorities while making it more hard to track those that have been unloaded in sympathetic jurisdictions.

Kim gains more power in North Korea leadership shuffle
The current USA policy of sanctions and pressure is "as foolish and risky an act as trying to put out fire with oil", he added. The US president went on to praise North Korean potential under Kim's leadership.

Members of the Trump administration, including acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and their allies have called the request a political attack and a violation of Trump's privacy. After fierce backlash from across the political spectrum, she apologized, but also suggested she was being criticized for speaking her mind.

"The president heard the idea, he likes it, so - well, we're looking to see if there are options that make it possible, and doing a full and thorough and extensive review".

"We have people who are routinely coming to this city".

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday she has taken steps to ensure the safety of Rep. Ilhan Omar after President Donald Trump's retweet of a video that purports to show the Minnesota Democrat being dismissive of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Since his first days in office, Trump has attempted to reign in sanctuary cities or states, arguing that they create security threats for the American citizens living there.

Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke has rushed to Omar's defense, accusing the president and other Republicans of deliberately taking her remarks out of context.

The popular west coast United States city boss also noted that Trump "is demonizing immigrants and refugees to incite fear and to distract the American public from his own failures".
