Swedish Environmental Activist Greta Thunberg, 16, Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

I think that change is on the horizon and the people will stand up for their future, Thunberg said in an interview with the Guardian.

Every Friday since that first event, Greta has skipped her school classes so she can continue hosting her #FridaysForFuture protests during which she adds further pressure on Swedish lawmakers to take action against climate change. "It shows there are thousands of students out there who care very deeply about the environment and are willing to miss school to demand that politicians take this ecological crisis seriously".

Borrowing a page from the youth activist playbook put to wide use past year, when students across the country walked out of school and called for increasing gun restrictions, Din and other students across the country hope a strike from school will focus attention on their demands for immediate action to address climate change. "Change is coming whether they like it or not", she said.

"We need to take more action on climate change now and a lot of that action is not going to come from trying to use the train rather than driving your auto".
