The Lions made a decision to find a more cost-effective slot receiver this offseason, signing Danny Amendola for a one-year deal worth at least $4.5 million.

The former Bucs wideout agreed to a four-year deal with Tennessee on Monday, but ESPN's Dianna Russini first reported that the Titans "were bidding against New England all day" for the slot receiver. Obviously a big-name guy, traded from the Lions to the Eagles a year ago.

The former second round draft pick has racked up 611 receptions for 7,214 yards and 38 touchdowns over his nine-year National Football League career. While his 35 catches for 532 yards were more than his 34 for 439 in 2017, Hogan played just nine games in 2017 and all 16 in 2018. He played in two seasons (2016-17) for the Giants, producing 73 tackles and one interception. After trading away Beckham, it certainly looked like the Giants wanted to rebuild.

Sources confirmed that New England's offer was for roughly $30 million over four years, which is in the ballpark of the Titans' four-year, $36 million deal. Furthermore, while the Giants needed a receiver, they did not need a slot receiver when their only decent receiver, Sterling Shepard, already operates primarily out of the slot.

Golden Tate is headed to the New York Giants after spending 2018 with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. That much is clear.
