Saturday night's regular season finale against Vanderbilt in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center was set to be the crowning moment for the 25-5 Tigers, who are heavily favored to beat the Commodores and grab at least a piece of the SEC regular season title. ESPN has reported, citing court records, that Dawkins had contact on multiple occasions in 2017 with a phone number that was believed to have belonged to Wade.

"All of us at LSU share the obligation to protect the integrity of this institution, as such we have suspended Head Coach Will Wade indefinitely until such time as we can ensure full compliance with the NCAA, as well as institutional policies and standards".

Alleva and LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander announced Wade's suspension in a statement. As such, we and university officials have taken deliberate and purposeful steps to daily assess and adequately address the situation. ". We are closely coordinating with the NCAA with every step".

"I can not comment at this time on various media reports, except to say that they do not begin to tell the full story".

According to a Yahoo! report, Federal Bureau of Investigation wire-taps captured phone conversations between Will Wade and middleman Christian Dawkins talking about "taking care of" a player and his family.

Dawkins and Merl Code, an Adidas consultant, will face bribery charges in the trial.

In the recording of Wade's phone conversation, he reportedly complains that an individual identified as "Smart" didn't accept a "strong-ass offer" to attend LSU. It's been a real close group all year; we came out tonight, played together, and made plays without Naz [Reid, who is injured] and Javonte. Wade talked about an "offer" made to a player and his family.

The report also stated that it was not clear if the offer Wade discusses would violate NCAA rules, or if the player and his family knew of, or accepted, the offer, of which there were no specific details. "Considering the existing circumstances, LSU has taken appropriate action".

"It was an incredible moment", said Graves, a fellow Baton Rouge native who played with Wayde Sims in high school and college.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

"We've handled everything very well so far", Wade said. "Your best response to this is to narrow your focus and make sure the last part of the season is the strongest part!"

Jones, a former Tigers' player and assistant under legendary LSU coach Dale Brown, was sacked two years ago after the Tigers finished 10-21 and last in the SEC at 2-16. "We don't even pay attention to that stuff". The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 11.5 points per game, which ranks fourth on the team. The 1981 team went on to finish the postseason with an LSU-record 31 victories in a single season.

"No matter how many obstacles you can throw at us", junior point guard Tremont Waters said, "no matter how many people don't want to see LSU turn around its basketball program, for all the hard work we've put in, we deserve this moment".
