In the past, Google Duplex was only working in some major areas, such as San Francisco, New York, and Atlanta. The Google Assistant feature was built using Google Duplex technology, an AI system that can hold more personalized and realistic human-computer interactions. If you own a restaurant but don't want to handle automated Google Assistant calls, you can opt out of the service - more information is at this link, including details about how Google Duplex calls are placed and the states where the service is now available.

It remains to be seen when support will go live in the remainder of the non-supported states as it's possible local regulations may prohibit the use of a feature like this for various reasons.

Continued Conversation, if you're unaware, lets you carry on a conversation with Google Assistant without having to keep saying "OK Google" or "Hey Google" in front of every request or instruction.

Continued Conversations makes it so users don't have to say the "Hey Google" command quite so much. AndroidPolice spotted that the support page still instructs owners to find a walk-in fix location, but the support page states that Google now accepts the two phones for fix. Duplex made its public debut at last year's Google I/O event and instantly became one of the main talking points of the event. However, Google's support page now says it's only on the Home Hub. With the Duplex, any restaurant with an online booking system can be contacted.

With the wider availability of Duplex, any Pixel user can trigger Google Assistant and ask for a reservation in their neighborhood.

It converses just like a real human (with "umms", "ahhs" and pauses) and can be used for making haircut appointments and restaurant reservations, to name a few.
