Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent dies at 73

In the 80s, Vincent wound up with a cocaine addiction that caused Airwolf to be cancelled, and had a long-lasting affect on his film career in general. His body was cremated, TMZ reported. At one point, Vincent was the highest paid actor on network television, pulling in $200,000 per episode. He was found by a talent scout because of his looks as he was finishing a tour of duty in the California Army National Guard, and then made his movie debut opposite Robert Conrad in "The Bandits". He got his first role in the 1967 film The Bandits, which led to him being signed ot Universal Studios, where he ended the '60s with TV roles on shows like Dragnet 1968, Danger Island, The Survivors and Lassie - along with a few film roles. Vincent had fought a high-profile battle with substance abuse for many years, survived two serious vehicle wrecks, and in 2012 lost a leg to peripheral artery disease.

He was also known for movie roles in the 1970s including "The Mechanic".

Vincent was a series regular on "The Survivors", a 1969 show starring Lana Turner.

Vincent's other notable credits included the 1971 drama Going Home, the 1977 science fiction film Damnation Alley, the following year's stuntmen-focused action-comedy Hooper - in which he starred alongside Burt Reynolds - and the 1983 miniseries The Winds of War.
