Sanchez was a virtual bystander in United's 2-0 Champions League last-16, first-leg defeat to Paris St-Germain at Old Trafford on Tuesday night as Solskjaer tasted defeat for the first time in 12 games.

"United still have four of their five main rivals to play before the end of the season, starting with Liverpool at home a week on Sunday", Redknapp told the Daily Mail. Football is played on a pitch.

"I am a little disappointed as I had the chance to score a third".

PSG may have been without Neymar and Edinson Cavani but they boasted a player with a point to prove against United.

United had never previously lost at home in European competition by a margin of more than one goal and history suggests their task in the second leg is extremely tough.

There has to be some realism about the level that this group of players is at, despite the way Solskjaer has improved them since replacing Jose Mourinho before Christmas.

"We grew again in this match", said Tuchel. "However, it is only half-time".

"At this club we bounce back".

"Juan [Mata] got on the ball to create a few bits but we maybe need to find a new way to play when Anthony and Jesse are out".

But Tuchel recognised he was United's most influential player and used Marquinhos to nullify him completely.

"This was huge", said the Brazil worldwide. The mentality changed because we'd just conceded an away goal. There is not one person who did not run or did not give 100 percent.

PSG goalkeeper Gigi Buffon admits they did it "easy" in defeating Manchester United.

"I must thank my teammates for an incredible performance", the Italian said.

From what we have just seen in the first leg, it is extremely hard to make a case for United turning the tie around in Paris on 6 March. Technically, I kept a clean sheet in that Final too...

"I think we have to lose the virginity in this competition this season once and for all".

"It is a great achievement to come here and win", he said. A couple of times we did well down our right but not enough runs into the box, like Mbappe did for his goal.

The footage shows that - presumably involuntarily - one steward has found himself in the middle of the PSG supporters' section and is being lifted up and down in time with their singing. "Even during the warm-up, there were so many people!"

Meanwhile, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi heaped praise on the Ligue 1 champions.

"We are very happy tonight", Al-Khelaifi said.
