Police in New Rochelle, NY have announced that Valerie Reyes' ex-boyfriend Javier da Silva has been arrested in connection with her death.

Reyes, of New Rochelle, New York, had been reported missing on January 30 when she did not show up for work.

CNN reported Reyes dealing with anxiety and depression and becoming scared for her life after her most recent ex-boyfriend (not da Silva) moved out of her apartment.

Her body was discovered around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 by a Greenwich highway crew in a wooded area.

That same person had also "fraudulently used the ATM card" that belonged to her.

"We are confident that the pursuit of justice for Valerie will be successful and we continue to work with the family to provide closure to this tragedy". "Safe Streets Task Force", said New Rochelle Deputy Police Chief Robert Gazzola.

Captain Berry said: "This entire investigation has been a herculean effort from the very beginning, from the initial officers on scene to all the work of all the detectives chasing down numerous leads". The United States Attorney for the Southern District of NY is handling the case.

Remarkably, the victim's mother Norma Sanchez said that she had a conversation with her daughter the night before she disappeared.

A source told the news outlet that Reyes was 'killed at her residence' and the ex-boyfriend allegedly confessed to the murder to investigators.

Reyes, a Barnes & Noble store clerk, had broken up with her boyfriend five days earlier, according to Sanchez.

Reyes' mother said that Reyes supported da Silva while his mother was dying of cancer.

"What zeroed us in, and the investigators from New Rochelle, was from the timeline we established, we believe she was already deceased and we saw continued ATM [bank] activity", Greenwich Police Captain Robert Berry told reporters Tuesday, the Greenwich Free Press reported.

The official cause of Reyes' death has not been confirmed as the autopsy is pending. "And she said, 'No, '" Sanchez said.

DeSilva is scheduled to make an initial court appearance in a federal court in NY on Tuesday.
