Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA, who recently announced that she is running for president in the 2020 election, suggested that US President Donald Trump might be in jail by then.

One of the innovations of Donald Trump's winning 2016 campaign was that a candidate could get pretty far by blaming a lot of America's problems on a group without enough votes to influence the outcome.

Warren wondered if the candidates and press would undyingly focus on Trump's tweets and "dark and ugly" statements every day. Warren continued. "Are we going to let him use those to divide us?"

"If we go down that path, we're going to need to help pull this country together and have as many people as possible understand it was a legitimate process based on facts", she said. Trump has repeatedly ridiculed Warren, often in personal terms and with racist slurs, for having in the past identified herself as having Native American ancestry.

U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California also is expected to make her second campaign appearance in SC this weekend.

Warren has said the story of Pocahontas long has "been taken away by powerful people who twisted it to serve their own purposes".

Actor Rob Lowe's tweet mocking Elizabeth Warren's controversial claims to Native American ancestry was deleted following a wave of outrage, which in turn prompted a heated backlash about "snowflakes" and Hollywood hypocrisy.

The more traction Warren's campaign gains, though, the more it undermines her claim that "the rich and powerful have rigged our political system", writes Ira Stoll. Warren's campaign wouldn't say what the senator believes Trump was referencing.

Warren officially launched her campaign in MA on Saturday, where she issued a challenge to the super wealthy and called Trump "just the latest and most extreme symptom of what's gone wrong in America". Cory Booker and New York Sen.

The senator highlighted several areas where she said Congress must take action, including addressing the rising number of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls; rising suicide rates among Native Americans; as well as resources for housing, health care and addiction treatment.

"These are serious investigations", she told reporters.

"What I know about Senator Warren is that she has fought for working families for a heck of a long time", she added.
