"I went up and down areas with a cosh [a heavy stick or bar], hoping I'd be approached by somebody - I'm ashamed to say that - and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [making air quotes with his fingers] "black b*****d" would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know?"

Morgan, 53, added: "The reason I disagree with John Barnes is that, I think he has been put forward and used as a pawn".

Neeson said he did ask his friends all of those things, and if she said a white man raped her he would've had the same reaction.

The red carpet for the latest Liam Neeson action movie, "Cold Pursuit", has been canceled as fallout continues from the Irish actor's confession that he once considered a racist "revenge" attack.

"Hated his casting before the horrifying controversy, but now really hope it's not too late to digitally erase racist f-- Liam Neeson from it", another said.

"She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way", Neeson said. She said he was a black man. Barnes argued that Neeson has a "racial bias" rather than actually holding racist views himself. And I've never admitted that, and I'm saying it to a journalist. "I asked, did she know who it was? No".

'I've known him a pretty long time, I think I would have recognised, I've been around a lot of real bigots.

The changes came hours after the 66-year-old actor appeared on Good Morning America to address his comments, telling interviewer Robin Roberts that he is not a racist. "I did seek help, I went to a priest".

"And at the time, even though this was almost 40 years ago, I didn't think about that, all those things surprised me, but it was this primal hatred, I guess, that really shocked me, when I eventually came down to earth and saw what I was doing, looking for a fight". I grew up surrounded by that.

During the interview with "Good Morning America", Neeson said that had the perpetrator of rape been any other race, he would have had the same thoughts about killing a member of that ethnic community.

"I remember shooting Schindler's List, and hearing remarks from drivers who were taking us to the set, thinking to myself, 'Am I hearing this right, this guy is making anti Jewish comments to me, a guy playing Schindler?'", he said. "Thankfully no violence occurred ever".

Yet the social media backlash has continued unabated.
