The Chromecast Audio is being discontinued

The product's discontinuation was first spotted by a United Kingdom -based Redditor who posted that Google cancelled their Chromecast Audio order, with customer support confirming that it was because the product is no longer in production. The company told Android Police it has stopped manufacturing the audio-only version of the Chromecast, so when the current stock runs out, the product will presumably be gone forever.

The Chromecast Audio was launched in 2015 to overnight become the most affordable music streamer this side of a Raspberry Pi.

The device is listed as "Out of Stock" and no longer available to purchase through Google's online store.

While the Chromecast Audio provided limited functionality, it did give an option to audiophiles who own expensive speakers to turn their Rs 1 lakh speaker setup into a smart speaker on the cheap.

I use Chromecast Audio all the time, so I'm a bit confused by this: It's how I was able to combine an low-priced pair of studio monitor speakers ($99) with a Chromecast Audio ($35) and achieve better sound quality than Sonos at just one-third the cost: A pair of Sonos One speakers cost $380.
