Ocasio-Cortez, who at 29 became the youngest woman to be sworn into Congress, had the ideal millennial four-word response to the criticism: "New party, who dis?".

Lieberman also had specific criticism of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's plan to raise taxes on the wealthy.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, has come under fire after it was revealed that her campaign was fined by the state for not providing workers' compensation coverage for a month previous year.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", veteran Missouri Rep. Emanuel Cleaver said.

House Democrats were also annoyed that Ocasio-Cortez sought a seat on the powerful Ways and Means Committee - on which veteran lawmakers typically serve - with a grassroots campaign to pressure Speaker Nancy Pelosi to add her to the panel, Politico reported, adding that Ocasio-Cortez's office denied being behind the effort. But their frustration goes beyond that: Democratic leaders are upset that she railed against their new set of House rules on Twitter the first week of the new Congress.

She's pro-labor, pro-equality, supports taxing the ultra-rich to pay for vital government programs and infrastructure, and champions the working class and minorities.

Republicans jumped on the revelations, telling the newspaper that the episode reveals "hypocrisy at its finest" by Ocasio-Cortez.

A spokesman for the campaign told the New York Daily News that the campaign had nothing to say.
