The 37-year-old pregnant royal just announced the four organizations for which she has become a royal patron.

"The Queen has held the roles for 45 and 33 years respectively", the palace said in a statement. Two patronages have been handed over to the former actress from Queen Elizabeth, who served a patron to the associations for decades - The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities.

But it appears Meghan found a clever way to control her nerves and feel more confident, which she shared with representatives of Smart Works, a charity of which she is now patron.

Kate's first royal patronage was announced in October 2011, when she joined husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry at The Royal Foundation.

Meghan Markle is reportedly feeling "stressed" and "miserable" in her new role as the Duchess of Sussex.

In her first high-profile, solo charity project, Meghan collaborated with women at the Hubb Community Kitchen in West London on a charity cookbook that quickly became a bestseller. She held meetings and conducted private meetings with each organisation prior to announcing the patronages and will undertake public visits over the coming weeks. The first is the royal patron of the National Theatre, and the second is the royal patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Markle selected Mayhew, an animal welfare charity that works to better the lives of animals and people to better communities in London, and those overseas internationally.

"It's not just donating your clothes and seeing where they land, but really being a part of each other's success stories as women", Markle said of Smart Works.

The Director of the National Theatre, Rufus Norris, quickly reacted to the news, thanking the Queen for "long and unwavering support and service". "This country is still very class-driven and there is a perception, and anything that adds to the perception that this place is not for everyone can be a downfall".

The patronage, which is now held by the Queen, is likely to suit the duchess, who was an actress before joining the royal family when she married Harry a year ago. Her Royal Highness will also take on Patronage of two additional charities as part of her official working portfolio - Smart Works and Mayhew.
