Facing an 18-15 deficit at the 7:30 mark, the Seminoles made just two of their next seven shot attempts.Turnovers and foul trouble didn't help FSU's cause, either.

Over the seven decades and more that the FSU football team has been talking the field of play, the Seminoles have fielded some fantastic programs - some among the best in the history of the ACC and numerous best teams to ever play in the state of Florida when it comes to both talent on the field and championships won.

Even though the Seminoles (12-2, 0-1 ACC) were the highest ranked opponent that the Cavaliers (13-0, 1-0 ACC) have faced so far this season, Virginia dominated the game, leading for 83.5 percent of it. Florida State shot just 34 percent (15-44) and became the 11th team held below 60 points by Virginia this season.

Guy and Key both made seven of 11 shots, with Key also hitting a pair of 3-pointers. The lead for Virginia grew throughout the 20 minutes of play, as they closed out the half going on a 17-4 run in the final five minutes of the half, to head in the locker room with a 42-23 lead.

"We were locked in and we were ready to play defensively", coach Tony Bennett said. Cofer led the Seminoles in scoring with nine points. Junior guard Braxton Key came off the bench to add 20 points for the Cavaliers. "So whenever I had an open look I just tried to be a little more aggressive today than normal, and shots were falling for me".

Virginia's Kyle Guy, a first-team All-ACC selection a year ago, led all scorers with 21 points, 15 of which from 3-point range. Florida State was trailing by almost 30 points for the majority of the game, but closed with a late rally against Virginia's reserves.

This game may come down to who plays better defense because both offenses score the ball well.

Virginia will next face Boston College on the road Wednesday night at 9 P.M., coverage on WINA will begin at 8 P.M.
