CRESA said it received reports from first responders in the field about individuals who were not aware of the outage or how to reach 911.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office said Thursday its 911 centers were experiencing intermittent phone service disruption and, according to ABC15, was redirecting all 911 and administration lines to the Douglas Police Department. The outage has continued into Friday, prompting FCC chairman Ajit Pai to issue a statement calling for an investigation into the company's response.

The outage also did not affect text-to-911 in all areas where that feature is available.

As of 8 a.m., technical issues with the 911 system were resolved, Procopio said. Among those also affected by the outage was Central Oregon's largest medical care provider, where phones stopped working at 2 a.m. Thursday.
