Ayrton Senna gets one more homage from the British carmaker in the form of a bespoke McLaren P1 GTR.

That year was also when the legendary Ayrton Senna won the first of his three drivers' championships, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this extraordinary feat, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) built a P1 GTR dressed in the same McLaren Rocket Red and Anniversary White that clad the Brazilian's MP4/4.

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has completed a unique new McLaren P1™ GTR bespoke project to mark the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna's maiden Formula 1 World Championship.

It's easy to spot, as the P1 features a full livery inspired by the classic white and red Marlboro sponsor theme applied to Senna's 1988 McLaren MP4/4 F1 auto. The doors also have the Brazillian flag and a barcode that was used instead of the Marlboro script at races with advertising restrictions.

To continue the honour, the auto features Senna's race number [12] on the bonnet, his name on the doors and splitter and the words 30th anniversary.

Originally auto 12 of 58 produced, this now-unique vehicle has also received a redesigned aerodynamic package that boosts downforce from 600kg to almost 800kg, courtesy of a new front splitter and Gurney flap.

But that's not all - this particular P1 GTR also sports a number of choice tweaks to increase the ferociousness of this already fairly serious track machine. The vehicle also has a unique engine specification complemented by a 24ct gold heatshield, Lexan rear cover and modified engine bay shrouds which has given a suitable bump in power. They've even dubbed the vehicle "Beco" which was the nickname given to Senna by his parents, and the choice of name has been fully blessed by the Senna family. Power is up to a level the owner calls "suitably pleasing". MSO spent more than 800 hours on the paint and exterior design work.

The car's interior has also seen an overhaul - with a Senna logo featuring on the Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel plus the headrests for the carbon-fibre bucket seats taken from the McLaren Senna hypercar.
