L.A. Sparks to Name Derek Fisher New Head Coach

Fisher, who helped the Lakers win five National Basketball Association titles, coached the New York Knicks from 2014 to 2016.

Fisher went 40-96 in two seasons at the helm of the Knicks before he fired midway through his second season after the team posted a 23-31 record.

Back in 2016, the New York Knicks fired former National Basketball Association player Derek Fisher following a 23-31 start to the season after going 17-65 in Fisher's first season in 2014-15. Fisher replaces Brian Agler. Agler had an 85-51 record with the Sparks and led the team to the 2016 WNBA championship.

This is the first-time he has been a coach of a WNBA franchise. He also won the 2010 championship with the Seattle Storm.

The former Los Angeles Lakers guard hopes to replicate the Sparks' glory days under Agler.
