The 5G Galaxy S10 with Snapdragon 855 was more or less confirmed by Samsung yesterday during Qualcomm's annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii.

The first of these handsets is likely to hit in early 2019.

This is the Snapdragon 855, which Qualcomm formally announced yesterday.

Smartphones have already replaced standalone cameras for many people, and the Snapdragon 855 isn't going to ease up on the push to computational photography. Because of this change, Qualcomm has taken to referring to the Spectra 380 as the world's first computer vision image signal processor. That comes with a significant speed boost and up to 4x power savings. Snapdragon 855 devices will be able to capture 4K HDR video at 60fps using 3x less power than the old Snapdragon 845 needed to record 4K at 30fps. "5G will fuel collaboration, connectivity and productivity worldwide, and we're excited to be at the forefront working alongside partners like Qualcomm Technologies to make the transformation to 5G a reality", said Denison.

An exact release date wasn't confirmed, but the company has unveiled a new partnership with United Kingdom network EE to bring the unspecified phone to the United Kingdom at some point in 2019.

Her fellow model, who is meant to appear to be taking a selfie in the advert using the Nova 3, can be seen with an outstretched yet empty hand. Additionally, the chipset integrates the company's recently announced Wi-Fi 6 and 60GHz-capable Wi-Fi antenna, allowing the 855, in the latter case, to deliver theoretical download speeds of up to 10 Gbps when connected to an 802.11ay compatible router. With all the required things in place, Qualcomm is confident that most smartphone makers will release their 5G devices by the end of next year. When it came to build the first round of 5G smartphones for the United States, Verizon and AT&T leaned on Samsung, probably because of the company's strong background in 5G research and its long business relationships with both carriers. According to Lau, the next OnePlus flagship - presumably the OnePlus 7 - will be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 855 when it debuts next year.

In fact, though, it'll be OnePlus which ushers in the Snapdragon 855 age. Add to that the fact that most major carriers in the world, such as SK Telecom, LG Uplus and KT in South Korea, along with Verizon and AT&T in the US have already started rolling out 5G networks.
