Leroy Sane has said that he and his Manchester City teammates are really enjoying playing together after they beat a sorry Southampton 6-1 at the Etihad.

Sterling scored twice, taking him to 50 City goals, and added two assists to cap off a week in which he verbally agreed a new five-year deal with the reigning champions. He is becoming a winning player.

"He is physically strong and mobile, with the quality to build play, but he is also very good at breaking from midfield and going to either side of the attack".

"I can score a hat-trick so it was not the flawless day but we will take the three points", said Morata. That's true but despite that it's incredible the people I'm working with and I'm a lucky guy to be here.

"Still he loses simple balls, like the Tottenham game, when he made an incredible assist in the first few minutes but then lost a lot of balls".

Fernandinho received arguably the highest praise from his manager when he claimed even Guardiola the player couldn't force his way into the current City juggernaut given his form.

Meanwhile, Chelsea moved second in the table as two goals from Alvaro Morata and another from Pedro saw them 3-1 winners over Crystal Palace.

Guardiola was pleased with his side's attacking display but was critical of their defensive work - an aspect he feels they need to improve for when they face better opposition.

City took just six minutes to open the scoring as Wesley Hoedt smashed an attempted clearance of Leroy Sane's cross into his own net, before Sergio Aguero doubled their lead by tapping in Raheem Sterling's cross.

"They are a brilliant side", the England forward told BBC Sport.

"We concede a lot of corner kicks and with the best taker in the league like Southampton had [James Ward-Prowse]". We were not stable behind.

"I was more pleased second half that we showed some pride".

- Ings's penalty for Southampton was their first goal in 505 minutes of Premier League football, and subsequently ended City's run of 630 minutes without conceding a goal in the competition.

A win for City could set the tone for the rest of the campaign but, if United manage to repeat their success, they will regain important ground on their local rivals and put a chaotic start to the season firmly in their rearview.
