Late goals from Vinicius Junior and Sergio Ramos rescued Santiago Solari in his first league game as Madrid manager after he replaced Julen Lopetegui earlier this week.

Real Madrid's trophy-laden decade can be summed up in two words - Sergio Ramos. It was through his energy that Real finally took the lead after 83 minutes, with the Brazilian's wayward shot from inside the box deflected into the back of the net.

The win lifted Real Madrid provisionally from ninth place up to sixth in the standings on 17 points.

The Welshman played for 71 minutes and mustered two scoring chances but more worryingly gave away possession 14 times for Madrid during Saturday's home win.

In the end, a 5-1 humiliation to Barcelona would be his final game as a Real Madrid manager, before he was sacked the very next day.

"It was a hard occasion because of the run we've been in and changing coach", Ramos said.

Australian man jailed for persuading wife to kill herself
They have said his motivations were greed, having had open conversations with his wife about wanting her life insurance money. Graham Morant, 69, was found guilty last month of counselling and aiding his wife Jennifer Morant to kill herself in 2014.

In fairness all of Madrid's front three struggled in front of goal, however it was Asensio who seemed the least confident and didn't do himself many favours trying to impress the new manager.

The game certainly showed Solari has plenty of work to do with his new side should they want to get back to their form of recent seasons, but he more than anyone will be relieved about the result.

Gareth Bale was given particularly rough treatment from the home fans when he was substituted.

Vinicius had excited fans in the Copa del Rey against Melilla in midweek and his flair and bursts of pace injected some verve into Solari's side.

"It is always like that in football - it is about spirit, confidence, and after the first goal the dynamic changed". I think they will stick with Santiago Solari until they can see a way of getting Pochettino. He scored from the penalty spot to clinch the 2-0 win but was also one of the players whistled by supporters when the game as still goalless.
