Panasonic Corp.is on the verge of turning a profit at the giant USA battery factory it operates with Tesla Inc., finally yielding returns for a Japanese company shelling out billions to make power cells for Elon Musk. Musk said Tesla "will be cash-flow positive for all quarters going forward".

Both the SEC and U.S. Department of Justice are looking at whether Tesla misled investors about its business.

At the time, Tesla said it was cooperating with authorities and stated "to our knowledge, no government agency in any ongoing investigation has concluded that any wrongdoing occurred".

SEC officials did not respond to requests for comment.

Musk said in a later blog post that he left that meeting "with no question that a deal with the Saudi sovereign fund could be closed, and that it was just a matter of getting the process moving".
