"This is really going to make [Abrams], I think, the next governor of the state of Georgia".

Winfrey, who took the stage to booming applause, said she wanted to come to Georgia to support Abrams because she saw how Abrams is "handling herself" amid an onslaught of "haters".

A Fox 5-Atlanta poll published Tuesday shows the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in a statistical tie with Kemp, while the Cook Political Report is characterizing the race as a "toss-up".

Among that "onslaught", Winfrey blasted Republican ads she'd seen in her hotel room casting Abrams as too radical for the state, calling it "noise...created to confound you with fear".

"I don't want to run", Winfrey said at a rally in Georgia, CBS News reported.

"For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn't have the right to vote and you are choosing not to vote wherever you are in this state, in this country, you are dishonoring your family", Winfrey said.

"Brian Kemp's getting the support of all kinds of hardworking, good people all across Georgia and Stacey Abrams is being bankrolled by Hollywood liberals", he argued.

"She goes, 'I only back candidates that I feel inspired by and that are authentic.' And notice who she didn't campaign for is Hillary Clinton", Watters said.

The talk show icon, who's been rumored as a presidential candidate in recent years, spoke at an event in Marietta with Abrams, who is in a close race with Republican Brian Kemp.

"I'm here today because Stacey Abrams cares about the things that matter". He hit the trail Thursday with Vice President Mike Pence.

She added that Abrams is "standing strong for the values that matter to me and the values that matter to Georgians all over this state".

More than 1.5 million Georgians already have cast ballots.

Kemp is trying to extend the Republican domination in Georgia, which hasn't elected a Democrat as governor since 1998. Goosing a GOP base that holds Trump and Pence in high regard is key to the approach.
