O'Rourke leads Cruz by 2 points

Ted Cruz has a new beef with Rep. Beto O'Rourke: Claiming the Democratic challenger will ban barbecue if elected.

While the race has "boosted talk of a Senate takeover", said Quinnipiac assistant poll director Peter A. Brown, "these numbers may calm that talk".

Forty-seven percent of respondents favored O'Rourke while 45 percent supported Cruz. Health care (21 percent), the U.S. Supreme Court (16 percent) and the economy (15 percent) were the other top issues. "PETA is confident that once Ted Cruz tastes how delicious tofu can be, he'll want to see it in every Texas pot", the statement said.

That, according to Cruz, is what is at stake for Texans, who are known for their love of barbecue, in November's election, in which Democrats have the chance to flip a critical Senate seat.

Democrats are broadly seen as facing steep odds in trying to capture a Senate majority in the November 6 congressional elections as they have to defend seats in 10 states that the Republican Trump won in the 2016 presidential election.

Soon after the new Apple iPhones were launched, one of the most-discussed issues was the pricing of the new phones. Coming to the Lightning-to-headphone jack converter, 2018 iPhone models are unlikely to have it bundled in the box.

In the poll released Tuesday, Quinnipiac surveyed "likely" voters instead of "registered" voters. I'm not saying probable.

Democrat Beto O'Rourke released his first Spanish-language TV ad Tuesday, to go on air this week in eight Texas media markets, including Fort Worth. Only 1 percent of those polled were undecided. "[O'Rourke] needs to crack into that 40 percent [of the] Republican base that are Hispanic voters".

Quinnipiac also surveyed the governor's race in the most recent poll and continued to find a much less competitive contest, with Republican Gov. Greg Abbott leading Democratic opponent Lupe Valdez by 19 points.

The poll showed Nevada U.S. Senator Dean Heller holding a 3-percentage-point lead over Democratic U.S. Representative Jacky Rosen.
