Most starters were on the field for New England on Thursday, including quarterback Tom Brady.

The defense was stout from the start, forcing a pair of three-and-outs to open the game while the offense marched quickly downfield for a touchdown in Tom Brady's first appearance of the summer. Perhaps more importantly though, we saw more of what the Patriots will actually look like this season.

Here's a position-by-position look at what stood out after re-watching the Eagles' second preseason game against the Patriots.

Tom Brady moved the New England Patriots easily in their Super Bowl rematch against the penalty-prone Eagles, with a little help from running back James White and fifth-round draft choice Ja'Whaun Bentley. Foles played down the moment to reporters Wednesday, saying: "He's a great guy". The Eagles had five penalties for 50 yards in the first quarter - including two for lowering the head to initiate contact and one for hitting a defenseless receiver - and 97 penalty yards in all. I've always respected Tom, I met Tom several times and it was great to see him. The only issue was that his show of collegiality came with Wentz, not Foles, as the latter was reportedly in the locker room at the time. Some lip-readers suggested that the Patriots quarterback said, "I'm happy for you".

"It wasn't good enough; I have to be better", Foles said. "I wouldn't be a bad sport". "I have a lot of respect for Nick". It feels all right, it feels pretty good. While Johnson was ready for the boos he'd surely hear, he ultimately was not ready for an aggressive Patriot pass rush, which accounted for three first-half sacks (and finished the game with eight sacks in total) in a 37-20 win for the Patriots.

"I was getting ready to throw a deep ball and it got grabbed as I was following through", Foles said afterward ( via Philly.com ). "We'll check it out tomorrow more thoroughly".
