Maximum sustained winds from the 4 PM Advisory were noted at 40 miles per hour with a central pressure of 1008 mb (or 29.77 inches).

The system is not a threat to land, forecasters say.

Hurricane-force winds extend 25 miles from the center of the storm, while tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.

You may recall that in 2017, what was then Post-Tropical Cyclone Ophelia was moving through the northeast Atlantic - toward Ireland.

Over in the Pacific, we have two areas we're monitoring. It is about 1,015 miles west of the Azores, an archipelago in the mid-Atlantic.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches). Continuity prevents a higher forecast, but Lane seems destined to eventually become a category-4 hurricane like Hector. Pop-up storms look to stay in the forecast through Friday, until a cold front arrives on Saturday that will result in scattered storms for that day. With upper level winds not helping this system out in any way, very little development is expected over the next several days.

The system is no threat to the USA, forming in a similar place in the Central Atlantic Ocean as its predecessor Tropical Storm Debby.
