On Thursday, three bodies believed to be those of Shanann Watts and her two young daughters were discovered, officials said.

Alexi Fehrmann, of Frederick, stands in silence during a candle light vigil for Shanann, Bella and Celeste Watts in front of their home.

The mother, who was pregnant, and daughters vanished Monday from their suburban Denver home.

Four-year-old Bella and three-year-old Celeste were found inside an oil tank, according to court documents filed by an attorney defending the girls' father Christopher Watts, accused of killing his children and wife. Watts' husband, Chris Watts, was arrested in connection with their deaths but has not yet been formally charged. He is being held without bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.

The couple had faced financial problems, filing for bankruptcy in 2015, but seemed to be making progress and were planning a trip in October.

Shanann Watts' body was found on the oil and gas company land, and her two daughters were found nearby Thursday stuffed inside full oil and natural gas tanks.

Still, they were about $70,000 in debt, most of it from student loans and credit card purchases, according to the filings.

"We were talking about general things, about how her two girls were doing and how life was out in Colorado".

Mrs Watts was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.

Ms Watts' upbeat Facebook and Instagram posts about her daughters, pregnancy and love for her husband have left family and friends searching for answers following the murders. "Her husband Chris Watts".

Colorado dad and husband, Chris Watts, 33, is expected to be officially charged on August 19 with the shocking murders of his pregnant wife, Shanann, 34, and their two daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, and now a heartbreaking Facebook video has surfaced that shows little Bella pleasantly singing about him before the bad incident.

Chris Watts worked at Anadarko for an unspecified amount of time but was terminated on August 15, 2018, a spokesperson for the company said. Defense attorney James Merson said that bodies of Bella and Celeste were in crude oil for four days before being found, the Associated Press reported.

In a second motion, obtained by KDVR, defense attorneys asked the court to compel the coroner's office to look for DNA under the mother's fingernails and on her hands.

When asked by the reporter whether they argued, Watts said, "We had an emotional conversation, I'll leave it at that".

"Defense counsel had an opportunity to speak with a DNA expert this morning".

Dave Baumhover, a detective at the Frederick Police Department, said there were no signs of foul play and there was nothing to suggest Shanann had mental health problems.

Shanann Watts' body was found on the property of Anadarko Petroleum, authorities said.

A company spokeswoman confirmed that Chris Watts used to work there but declined to say when his employment ended or what role he served.

Chris Watts, 33, was taken into custody Wednesday (Aug 15) and faces three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with a body in the Denver area of the western USA state.

After several days of publicly protesting that he had not seen his wife or daughters after leaving for work on Monday, Watts broke down and confessed to the murders on Wednesday, police said. There was no immediate word on a possible motive.

Christopher Watts, 33, was sacked on Wednesday, the day he was arrested, Anadarko Petroleum said.

In the heartbreaking video, Bella is seen sitting in the back of their vehicle singing a song in praise of her father, "My daddy is a hero, he helps me grow up strong, ' she trills".
