Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch (12) passes against the Minnesota Vikings during an National Football League preseason game at Broncos Stadium at Mile High on August 11, 2018 in Denver.

After last season's carousel at the position in which three players - Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Lynch - started, the Broncos signed Case Keenum during the offseason. Lynch went 6-for-11 for 24 yards with an interception and a sack.

Cousins was the crown jewel of this year's free-agent class of quarterbacks, signing an $84 million, three-year deal in Minneapolis.

"Obviously I'm upset", Lynch told reporters after the game.

The Denver Broncos did not have a strong preseason debut for the most part, though there were some individual performers who stood out.

Chad Kelly came on and played much better, throwing for 177 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 14-for-21 accuracy, drawing a rave review from the crowd.

He played well tonight, outside of the one interception, which led to a score for those guys. "That's a good deal".
