Sarri's Chelsea too good for Huddersfield

Chelsea and Tottenham dispelled doubts about their readiness to make winning starts to the Premier League on Sunday (NZ time).

With Eden Hazard not a guaranteed starter due to his involvement late into the World Cup, many Chelsea fans were hoping Callum Hudson-Odoi would feature in some part after his impressive pre-season.

"This is understandable after this good first half and you sit at half-time and you are 2-0 down".

Huddersfield enjoyed more possession towards the half-hour mark as Steve Mounie's rising effort cleared the crossbar and a series of crosses from Town left-back Chris Lowe tested Chelsea's defence. If you look at the result, you can think about an easy game, but in the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team.

In a ruthless display of finishing Chelsea also netted with their second effort, new boy Jorginho coolly converting a penalty on the stroke of half-time after Marcos Alonso was felled inside the box.

As Jorginho approaches the ball, he skips just before the taking his shot.

N'Golo Kante got Chelsea up and running, with a cool Jorginho penalty doubling their lead before Eden Hazard came off the bench to tee up Pedro for the third.

Championship report: Derby County 1 Leeds United 4
And while Leeds 'keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell definitely could have done better, there's no denying the quality of the hit. The 25-year-old striker still had a lot of work to do when he received the ball from Klich in a crowded area.

Substitutes: Caballero, Christensen, Zappacosta, Moses (N/A), Loftus-Cheek (7), Hazard (8), Giroud.

MF Jorginho, 8 - Chelsea's new midfield general looked composed and creative throughout as he confidently played give-and-go football with his teammates.

The Frenchman opened the scoring for the Blues, as mentioned earlier, and found himself in several threatening positions throughout the match.

WORST PLAYER - Overall, Chelsea played a good game and no one was exactly awful, but Alvaro Morata did little to improve his prospects.

Roberto Pereyra bagged his first top-flight brace as Watford claimed three points in their opener with a 2-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

One striker who will not be scoring goals for Chelsea this season is Michy Batshuayi, who has joined Valencia on a season-long loan.

The Blues may have been disappointing against Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend but their Premier League campaign is up and running.
