2 women charged in Brooklyn nail salon brawl

According to a criminal complaint provided by the Brooklyn DA's office, the incident took place around 9:35 p.m. on Friday at New Red Apple Nails on Nostrand Avenue in East Flatbush.

Surveillance video released by the Chinese American Nail Association shows the verbal argument escalating into a physical fight.

The video shows salon employees striking one woman with a broomstick until she's able to flee out the front door.

Sandwiched in between a West Indian grocery store and a sneaker store, New Red Apple Nails is located on the edge of East Flatbush, a working-class neighborhood in Brooklyn.

'So I'm at the nail salon and they f***** up a lady eyebrow and she refused to pay then a fight broke out, ' wrote Mercy Maduka.

According to the nail association, an employee told them Thomas refused to pay for any of the other services she received, telling CBS2 that altercation could have easily been avoided. Both were released on their own recognizance.

A harrowing video showing a group of nail salon employees attacking a black family in Brooklyn, New York has gone viral with many calling for the establishment to be shut down. At least one protester screamed, "where is ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement)?" implying that the salon's Asian employees might be undocumented immigrants.

Thomas was also arrested and charged with assault, menacing, and harassment. The women were dissatisfied with the service from the salon and ultimately, refused to pay $5 for a "f**ked up" eyebrow job.

The Washington Post reports the incident has intensified racial tensions. Many of them rallied outside the shop Monday to protest the violence. Several people held signs stating "Black $$$ matters" and chanted "black dollars matter".

"Until they open a soul food restaurant in Chinatown, we ain't eating over there", one woman tells the crowd. "They take our money and run". In the official complaint reported by The New York Post, the employees claimed the customer slapped and dragged an employee across the floor. They left behind a shuttered salon and protesters hoping it stays that way.

According to News12, the salon closed for the rest of the day.
