"Six civilians including two women and three children were killed in air strikes near Ain al-Tina" on Quneitra's border with Daraa province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. The Observatory said at least 12 people were killed as rescuers struggled to get to the casualties.

Air strikes have killed 15 civilians in a rebel-held pocket of southern Syria as regime ally Russian Federation presses talks for Damascus to retake the area, a monitor said on Wednesday.

The deal is the latest in a string of agreements that have marked the government's recapture of much of southern Syria.

Smoke following the explosions in Syria is seen from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights near the Israeli-Syrian border July 19, 2018.

Earlier this week, dozens of Syrians marched toward the frontier, pleading for help as government forces, backed by Russian Federation, stepped up airstrikes on Quneitra.

The provisions did not elaborate on the implications of the deployment of military units in the zone.

When DeSantis and other Republicans pushed a congressional resolution recognizing Israeli control over the Golan Heights in May, it was nixed by GOP leadership who were seeking to prevent such a vote on the heels of the Trump administration's successful effort to relocate the USA embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

It said the army had taken control of al-Haara hill on the second day of an offensive to take back the last parts of southwest Syria in Quneitra province that are in rebel hands and are close to the border with Israel.

President Assad, with unfaltering support from Russian Federation and Iran, has all but crushed the revolt after seven years of destructive war that has taken the lives of more than 400,000 Syrians and displaced half the country's population.

According to the agreement, rebel forces agreed to hand over "military hardware" followed by the rest of their weapons once ISIS is removed from southern Syria.

Wednesday's attacks focused on towns and villages surrounding Nawa, making the road in and out of it deadly, according to a local activist who goes by the name Selma Mohammed.

But the talks faltered, triggering the overnight onslaught and a new wave of displacement, with hundreds leaving the town again.

Starting early Wednesday, a series of barricades on the road leading into the town were removed to let dozens of vehicles in, an AFP correspondent there said.

More than 350,000 people have been killed and millions displaced by Syria's war since it started in 2011 with a brutal crackdown on anti-government protests.

The marchers waved white flags at Israeli soldiers as they walked toward the frontier in the Golan Heights, demanding protection from the relentless airstrikes, before they turned back.

The agreement also stated that Syrian army troops would not enter the city unless they were on their way to fight a nearby Islamic State pocket.

Government forces have made a modest ground advance there, the Observatory and state media both said. Sunday's convoy was accompanied by a delegation containing the United Nations humanitarian coordinator in Syria Ali Al Zaatari and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
