For Thomas, it's a stunning fall over one year.

During the 2016-17 season Thomas was third in the league with 28.9 points per game and he earned second team All-NBA honors after helping to guide the Celtics to the best record in the East at 53-29.

Hip injuries are tricky, so it's going to be fascinating to see if the surgery Thomas received will completely fix the issues that have hobbled him for the previous year. But a torn labrum that cost him eight months of rehab, and a trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer, upended his hopes for that kind of a long-term deal.

Tropical Storm Chris to strengthen; Beryl weakens to remnants

Clearly frustrated by the lack of offers, he took to Instagram on Thursday to post a reminder about his accomplishments with the Celtics.

Maybe these posts had an effect as it was reported soon after that he had signed a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets. One image showed him among the NBA's top scorers that season - Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard - with the caption, "So Quick to forget!" Thomas regained some of his offensive pop during his brief run with the Lakers, averaging 15.6 points per contest and shooting nearly 40 percent, but was shut down when his ailing hip flared up late in the year. "I'll remind them though". According to ESPN, Thomas will come off the bench - a role in which he thrived in Boston.

But if Thomas shoots sub-40% from the field again and struggles to stay healthy, it may put his future up in the air.
