Duchess of Cambridge pauses maternity leave for special celebration

The royals were greeted at the abbey doors by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster, before taking their seats. Kate, who is on maternity leave until the autumn, was not confirmed to attend the service, but the mother-of-three made a surprise appearance with her husband Prince William. Markle finished the look with a fascinator by Stephen Jones and a matching pair of heels and bag by Dior.

The royals will later appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to view a flypast of up to 100 RAF aircraft, a parade of more than 1,000 personnel, and a feu de joie to celebrate the junior service's centenary.

For Prince Louis' ceremony, Kate opted for Alexander McQueen - the same designer to make her wedding dress and other christening outfits, and has always worn a hat too.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Abbey together with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with the Princes in their uniforms and Kate Middleton again sporting Alexander McQueen.
