Tropical storm conditions are possible in Dominica and Guadeloupe tonight, the NHC said.

Beryl, which had been the Atlantic season's first hurricane, was losing tropical storm status late Sunday when it crossed Dominica, another island that had been battered by Hurricane Maria, which hit as a Category 5 storm and killed dozens of people.

Beryl is likely to result in rain accumulations of 2 to 3 inches in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and amounts in some areas could reach 5 inches.

A statement from the Cabinet indicated that based on the 11:00 pm Sunday advisory from the National Hurricane Centre (NHC), which lifted the tropical storm watch on the Eastern Caribbean island the all clear was given at 6:00 am today. Saturday looks to be warm and humid with afternoon storms as well, but some more dry air filters in Sunday.

Officials said 24,000 customers had already lost power across Puerto Rico and Gov. Ricardo Rossello urged people without sturdy roofs to move in with relatives or go to one of 14 government shelters that have opened.

The local Electric Power Authority reported on Facebook that more than 13,000 customers were without service, including those who still do not have power after Hurricane Maria, which struck on its path through the Caribbean last September. "The system can still cause a lot of damage, regardless of whether it's a tropical storm or a hurricane".

Meteorologist Marshall Alexander told The Associated Press that officials were anxious about those living with tarps on their roofs after Maria slammed into Dominica as a Category 5 storm previous year, killing dozens of people.

As of Sunday, Beryl was producing maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour with higher gusts.

On Monday, people were still buying water, batteries, candles and food there as the storm neared. "We fear any little rain and any little wind". Some 60,000 people still have only tarps for roofs. "We don't have the money to spend on zinc roofing".

As of Monday afternoon, there were almost 13,000 power outages, a total that included customers who remain without service since Hurricane Maria last September, according to Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority.
