Survivor of fatal Del. crash: It looked like a war scene

A father and his four daughters from that northern New Jersey town were all killed Friday after a pickup truck crossed a highway median and struck their minivan in Delaware.

Audie Trinidad, 61, and their daughters - Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17, and 13-year-old twins Allison and Melissa -were killed on a DE highway in their minivan when a pickup truck going the opposite direction crossed over the median and slammed into their vehicle, ABC News 7 reported. They were later identified as Audie Trinidad and his four daughters Kaitlyn, 20; Danna, 17; and Melissa and Allison, 13-year-old twins were the victims identified as the victims.

Mary Rose Ballocanag, the 53-year-old wife and mother, suffered multiple broken bones but is expected to survive. The pickup truck had two people inside who were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Brian C. Kern, 24, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania was driving a Mercury Sable and was struck by the Ford pick-up truck first, spinning out of control and ending up in an embankment, police said.

Kern said he saw Hubbard's pickup truck serve across the median at Route 1, coming toward him, and he swerved to avoid a head-on crash. "To lose four children in a's just unheard of", Delaware State Police Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe said.

A New Jersey wife and mother was the only survivor of a crash in DE that took the lives of her husband and four daughters.

The operator of the Sienna, a 61-year-old male from Teaneck, NJ, was properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The family had been heading north on Delaware's Route 1 back to their Bergen County home. Both parents were wearing seat belts.

A GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for Mary Rose. "If anyone knows the answer, call me, text me. They go to church", he said said. He received a photo of the family eating blue crabs on July 4. "They touched our lives in many ways".

A passenger in the truck, a 30-year-old man from Hurlock, Maryland, was also treated and released.

"Everyone that I knew who went to high school and middle school with them, I can see that they were a part of the Teaneck family". Their bodies in the morgue are unrecognizable'.
