"This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch", read a message that greeted Switch players who'd previously played on PS4. Like "Minecraft" and "Rocket League" before it, "Fortnite" is the latest example of truly "cross-platform" games - where one account is carried across all platforms, from smartphone to home console to PC, with progress and stats and in-game purchases included.

PlayStation Hits offers a selection of games like Yakuza 0, Doom, Bloodborne, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4, Battlefield 4, Street Fighter V, and more for a couple tenners.

It seems like Sony is in no mood of allowing crossplay, but rather they intent on keeping the success to themselves.

You will be able to take advantage of the discounts regardless of how you choose to buy your games, as they will be available at retail stores as well as on the PlayStation Store. Here is what Smedley said in a tweet on Monday as first reported by Variety.

McVay told the station she isn't planning to take any legal action. "It's going to go down the side of my face". The Phanatic, naturally, felt bad about what happened, and the team reached out to her on Tuesday to apologize.

Then adding to that Smedley, revealed that Sony initially does not like the idea of someone purchasing something on Xbox and using it on PlayStation.

Having said that, former head of Sony Online Entertainment finds this as a dumb reason to not consider crossplay and he is not alone.

In this regard, Sony remains the one with the largest user base this generation, and it's working to monetise these users as much as possible before the next generation starts, which means "protecting" its lead. Whilst Nintendo and Microsoft have also joined up their console cross-play. Yes, of course, I would and I bet so would all consumers, because it has only positive benefits for the actual gamer. According to an industry source that confirmed the news to Kotaku UK, downloadable games are coming to PlayStation Now later this year, namely in September.
