The North Korean autocrat's every move will be followed by 3,000 journalists up until he shakes hands with Trump.

When asked what he learned about Mr Kim, the United States president said: "I learned he's a very talented man and I also learned he loves his country very much".

Suzanne DiMaggio, who facilitated the first official discussions between North Korea and the Trump administration a year ago, recently said that without aides present "the fear is that he [Trump] might give away too much".

After shaking hands again with Kim in front of the cameras, Trump gave a thumbs-up before starting the first meeting between an incumbent US president and a DPRK leader.

Kim and Trump have also agreed to work together on the recovery of remains of soldiers from both sides who died in the Korean war. "We have watched the struggles, and the sacrifices and the progress of the people", he said.

Trump's retort included mention of his own "nuclear button" - one that doesn't actually exist.

Meanwhile, Law and Home Affairs Minister Shanmugam is confident that security is in place for the Trump-Kim summit.

Rafael Nadal wins 11th French Open title, dominates rival in straight sets
Nadal wept after being handed the trophy by Australian legend Ken Rosewall - who won the inaugural French Open in 1968. At the following changeover, he was given a salt pill by a doctor and had his left forearm massaged by a trainer.

Several hours later, camera crews captured Kim and his entourage entering another luxury hotel on the island: the Marina Bay Sands - a 55-floor hotel and entertainment mecca with an infinity pool, lookout point, and the Ce La Vi bar and restaurant on the rooftop.

The US president said the meetings went "better than anybody could imagine".

Tuesday marked the first meeting between a sitting USA president and a North Korean leader.

Trump spoke to South Korean President Moon and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, both key allies of Washington in the region, to discuss developments ahead of the summit.

Trump said Tuesday after meeting Kim that he's feeling "really great".

Pompeo said the U.S.is prepared to offer "unique" security guarantees to North Korea to ensure that eliminating its nuclear weapons won't end badly for Kim's regime.

"We overcame all kinds of skepticism and speculations about this summit and I believe that this is good for the peace", he said. Complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization, he told reporters, "is the only outcome that the United States will accept".

In addition to the pictures of Kim on the tour on Tuesday, separate landscape shots of the Marina Bay Sands hotel, and a bird's-eye view of Singapore from the hotel's observation deck were also shown. "Maybe it's a surprise I'll see him tomorrow before he leaves", he said. Seoul lives under constant threat of an attack by North Korea, and the country's leadership has been adamantly promoting diplomatic talks in order to avoid a full-blown conflict, especially as Pyongyang appeared closer to developing a nuclear weapon that could fit on an intercontinental ballistic missile.
