Trudeau told reporters that Canada would move forward on July 1 with retaliatory tariffs to answer for Trump's tariffs on aluminum and steel that were "unjustly applied to us".

Navarro lashed out on Fox News following a multi-day tirade by Trump and his administration over trade and Canada's response to tariffs imposed by the U.S.

Trump addressed the fight with Trudeau during a press conference following the North Korea summit, suggesting average Canadians will pay the price. He says that we are the problem with tariffs.

Trudeau, at a news conference at the conclusion of the G-7 summit, said that Canadians are polite, reasonable, but will not be pushed around.

Kudlow sought to tie Trump's reaction to the upcoming summit with Kim Jong Un, saying the North Korean leader "must not see American weakness". We'd have a deal, we'd have a great deal with NAFTA, by now, if the Canadians would spend more time at the bargaining table and less time lobbying Capitol Hill and our press and state governments here, they are just simply not playing fair. Trump addressed the feud following his meetings with Kim in Singapore at a more than hour-long press conference.

"We finished the (G7) meeting and really everybody was happy".

Mr Trump also said he might double down on import tariffs by hitting the sensitive auto industry, throwing the G7's efforts to show a united front into disarray.

She also said the European Union would "act" against the USA trade measures.

Trump has drawn criticism in recent days for suggesting that Russian Federation rejoin the G-7. Sen. He was asked why he was jeopardizing relations with long-standing allies like Canada while welcoming a historical USA enemy with open arms as a friend.

Canadian lawmakers unanimously voted to oppose the U.S.' "illegitimate tariffs" on Canadian steel and aluminum and condemned disparaging statements made by the Trump administration about Canada.

Hours after Mr Trump withdrew his support for the joint statement and attacked Mr Trudeau, Mr Kudlow and trade adviser Peter Navarro drove the message home on Sunday morning news shows in an extraordinary assault on a close USA ally and neighbour.

The Americans' criticism of Trudeau left a former Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper, stumped.

"That's unconscionable", Heyman said on "CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin" Monday.

Trump did not seem to think that this question was unreasonable. "The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public, and in private conversations with the president".
