Korean leader Kim commits to peninsula's complete denuclearization in joint text

The leaders approached each other on a red carpet from separate outdoor hallways at the airy and luxurious Capella Hotel on Singapore's Sentosa Island.

The letter, which was publicly disclosed after Trump signed it with a flourish and held it up to the TV cameras, contained the grand language typical of Trump.

Pusan University North Korea analyst Robert Kelly said the letter was "depressing".

"It worked out far better for both of us than anybody could have expected", he added. "But the one thing I would object to violently is withdrawing our forces from South Korea", Graham said Tuesday on "CBS This Morning".

"I'm determined that Japan will have to directly face North Korea and resolve (the abductions) bilaterally", Abe told reporters, according to The Guardian.

"I do trust him, yeah", Trump said.

South Korea said last month the issue of USA troops stationed there was unrelated to any future peace treaty with North Korea and that American forces should stay even if such an agreement were signed.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, hawkish national security advisor John Bolton and chief of staff John Kelly were in the meeting with Trump. "Did Kim Jong-un just make a vague Iron Sky reference?" Then aides to each were to join for more discussions and a working lunch.
