Fortnite Switch DOWNLOAD is not the Mobile version, uses Nintendo servers

What this means is, if you've been playing Fortnite on the Xbox One, PC, or iOS, you can carry over and sync your progress with the Switch version of the game.

In what might be one of the shrewdest business decisions we've ever seen Fortnite's developers Epic Games announced previous year that it would be launching a free-to-play version of the game called Battle Royale.

Fortnite is a wonderfully addicting battle royale mode in which 100 players are dropped onto an island - either as a squad, duo, or solo - and fight 'til the death until only one player or team is left standing.

If you've ever played Fortnite on PS4, you can no longer use that Epic account to play on Nintendo Switch.

A trailer announcing the game's arrival on Nintendo Switch was also revealed, so feel free to check it out below if you're not sure what all the hype is about. In Fortnite's case, trying to link the Epic Games account you have on the PS4 with the Nintendo Switch version results in an error saying this is not allowed.

Fortnite has quickly become the year's biggest game phenomenon, quickly surpassing rival battle royale shooter Player Unknown Battlegrounds in popularity and bringing in a ton of revenue.

With just hours to go until the Nintendo Direct E3 2018 live stream, at least one surprise appears to have been thoroughly spoiled by leaks and data mines. The game will be available to download at 10 a.m. PT. The Switch's online services are now free, but starting in September Nintendo will begin to charge for online multiplayer.

And while cross-platform play has been the key to the battle royale mode, Sony's always been a bit of a stick in the mud on this one. A new entry in the popular Mario Party series, which blends video game and board game together, will be released on 5 October.

Among the participants are actor Joel McHale, NBA player Paul George, WWE wrestler Xavier Woods, and a number of others on the celebrity side, while the "gamer" side feature well-known streamer Ninja.
